Protoss

The Protoss are an ancient alien species from a distant star system.  They have learned to harness a type of psyonic energy which powers most of their technology.  The High Templars, priests of the protoss, focus their power through a massive crystal called the Khala.   Ultimatly there was a rift in the Templars, some wished to sever themselves from the power of the Khala and return to the primordial energy of the void, these were cast out and became known as the Dark Templar.




Zealot:

Ground fighter utilizing augmented power armor, personal shield and psy blades.  The main ground force of the Protoss army.

Dragoon:

A Dragoon is a robotic spider like Protoss warrior.  Dragoons are piloted by the consciousness of a slain Protoss warrior implanted with cybernetic technology.  They use a powerful central mounted ion cannon in battle.

High Templar:

The High Templar are Protoss priests who utilize the power of the Khala crystal to channel their psyionic abilities.  They are a highly powerful and respected class in Protoss society, any defiance of their will or doctrine is seen as heracy, a crime punishable by death.  The High Templars posses a number of unique aibilities including illusion and psyionic storm.

Dark Templar:

The Dark Templar are Protoss who have cut off their connection with the Khala crystal and connect to the original source of psyoinic energy, the void.  For this they are exiled to the barren dark world of Shakuras, never to return.  Their void powers give them the ability to become invisible.

Reaver:

A Reaver is a robotic artillary utilized by the Protoss.  It appears as a giant worm crawling along the ground.  Within it harbors an arsenal of robotic Scarabs, self propelled smart bombs which carry the explosive power a mini nuke.  Reavers can consume material and regrow new Scarabs in the field.

Scout:

A Scout is a Protoss fast attack ship capable of space and hyper space travel.  It is fast and maneuverable but well shielded and durable with fast attack guns and heavy missiles.

Carrier:

A Carrier is a Protoss heavy cruiser, it relies on launching wings of light Interceptor ships, capable of swarming and destroying heavy armored opponents or taking on wings of fighters.  The Carrier is the staple of Protoss fleet deployment.
